Beach Brella was thrilled to support the SUP athletes in the recent SUP magazine’s Pacific Paddle Games at Doheny State Beach in Dana Point. With a mission to creatively stand out from the crowd, Beach Brella was honored to present all the female winners with their own, one of a kind, beach umbrella. The athletes showed their passion for SUP by setting themselves apart through their skill, determination, and love of the sport. Beach Brella was happy to reward their accomplishments and happily joined in on the beach festivities.
The Pacific Paddle Games event featured Technical and Distance SUP races (in both Pro and Open divisions), including Pro Junior and Youth categories, and Prone divisions. There was a whopping prize purse of $60,000, the largest amount ever awarded. The athletes were challenged to paddle through the surf and follow a three to six-mile triangle racecourse off shore.
Athletes, fans and neighbors enjoyed watching the exciting competition, browsing the vendor booths, taking part in a SUP demo, or just chillin’ on the beach during the action-packed event along the beautiful Southern California coastline. Beach Brella provided 100% UV protection for the camera men who photographed and videotaped the event, which kept them cool under the shade and allowed them to capture amazing footage of the event.
A great way to share the beach lifestyle attitude with the local community was by giving away a Beach Brella a day at the Pacific Paddle Games event. As a vendor, the Beach Brella booth continually drew a crowd. Passersby’s stopped to admire the brightly colored, tasseled beach umbrellas as founder Shelley Arends shared her inspiring story and design inspiration. Beach Brella even joined in on the post-competition (for the athletes, not spectators) fun by sponsoring the Beer Garden. Who doesn’t love a cold beer with friends on a hot beach day?
It was an amazing weekend at the Pacific Paddle Games with people, like legendary surfer Gerry Lopez, coming together to enjoy the ocean, celebrate a love of the beach lifestyle, and support the SUP community…all without getting a sunburn, thanks to Beach Brella.
